There’s a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood, just north of Bushwick, and the commute to get there isn’t as bad as you might think, in fact its sort of a serene and pretty ride on the above-ground M train.
If you’re looking for a nice, quiet alternative to the bustle of Manhattan, Williamsburg, and Bushwick, but want to stay near North Brooklyn, I’d recommend Ridgewood, Queens.
When I first started my real estate career, I really enjoyed exploring and getting lost in the streets of Ridgewood. There were trees, it was calm, and I liked the small brick buildings, the likes of which I hadn’t seen much of in other neighborhoods.
A classic Ridgewood block
There was also a lot happening, and a lot of businesses, especially on Fresh Pond Road, the third M train stop from Bushwick.
I’ve heard some people say that they won’t go to Ridgewood because of the commute. But if you’re committed to living in Bushwick, going to Ridgewood isn’t that much further. The M train, which may be a little slower than the L, goes right through the neighborhood.
.Forest avenue is maybe my favorite area of the neighborhood. It’s nice-looking, quiet, and it’s two stops from Bushwick’s Myrtle-Wyckoff station, where you can connect with the L train.
And if you’re wondering if you should invest in the neighborhood, it’s important to understand that renters and buyers who are interested in locations in North Bushwick, near the L train, could also be interested in Ridgewood. In some places, Ridgewood is walkable from the L train.
Personally, I really like how tranquil Ridgewood is. I like the trees, I like how there isn’t much of a hustle and bustle.
If you’re in need of real estate help in Ridgewood, (or elsewhere), feel free to contact me. But, bottom line, I highly recommend this neighborhood if you’re looking to move or invest.
