I recently listed a three bedroom apartment in Bushwick. There’s a certain, seemingly small, detail about the apartment that makes it special.
The right side of the building is not attached to another building. So this building, and this apartment (that I’m listing) has windows on the side of the building, in addition to the front and back of it. That’s rare.
Throughout so many neighborhoods in New York City, buildings are lined up one after the other. In many cases, this allows for only window exposure on the front and back of the apartment. Sometimes I hear from buyers and renters that they would like “a window in the living room.” This isn’t easy to find. Many apartments have living rooms in the middle of the apartment, which means no window.

But apartments which have an additional side of windows means more sun exposure. That’s a valuable asset. Natural light is maybe the most sought after quality that buyers and renters want when they are looking for a new home.
So if you come across that one apartment that is detached from the building next to it (it can also be on the corner of a block), and the space meets all your other criteria for a new home, make a quick move. That one extra side of window exposure can get a premium amount on the sales or rental market.
