Riding over the Kosciuszko Bridge from Brooklyn to Queens is a pretty exhilarating ride.
Back in February, I found myself listing a one bedroom apartment rental in a pre-war building in Sunnyside, Queens.
Right now, I live in Williamsburg. Geographically, Williamsburg and Sunnyside arenโt far apart. But I donโt have a car (nor do I want one), therefore commutes to my listings are completed on either public transit or on a bike.
But for this listing, public transit would have been a bit of schlep – an eight minute walk to the G train station at Lorimer Street in Williamsburg, and then a transfer to the 7 train at Court Square, followed by another eight minute walk to the apartment. Thatโs just a bit more than Iโd like to do (imagine doing a commute like this several times a day – the annoyance of it all can add up).
Last year, I began noticing the grey electric Citi Bikes buzzing throughout my neighborhood. A year later, the discovery of these electric Citi Bikes has revolutionized my commutes. Itโs a reasonable price to ride them, if youโre a Citi Bike member (which I am).
For this listing, the most direct way for me to get there from Williamsburg was on an electric bike over the Kosciuszko bridge, which begins in Greenpoint and ends in Sunnyside, going over a small body of water which on GoogleMaps is called the โNewtown Creek.โ
Riding over the Kosciuszko Bridge is a pretty special experience.
The bike path runs along the Brooklyn Queens Expressway and is wide and smooth, the supports of the bridge towering over it.
But the best part of the ride is the view of the Manhattan skyline – pretty unmatched – and itโs equally as cool no matter which side you approach the bridge from.
If youโre looking for a few moments of a thrilling, fun ride – check it out. And call me if you need help with any real estate related matters – leasing or sales.
This is actually the view coming from the opposite direction – from Queens to Brooklyn.
